DKB-Riders Tour

DKB Riders' Tour – 2011 opening to be held in Hagen a.T.W.

(Mühlen) In 2011 the DKB Rider's Tour will have an additional stage. The international equestrian festival Horses & Dreams meets Germany, from 4th to 8th May, will become, in its 11th year, the first stop for the international show-jumping elite on the way to the title. Now boasting seven international stages, the series, established in 2001, is once again brilliantly well-placed.

During the kick-off to the DKB Riders' Tour at the Kasselmann Stables in Hagen a.T.W., ARD will accompany riders and horses in an exciting season. On Sunday 8th May – exactly one week after the World Cup Finals in Leipzig – Germany's first channel will broadcast the second round of the Grand Prix, amongst other things, live from 16.05 to 17.00.

Horses & Dreams meets Germany combines top-class international show jumping and dressage with lifestyle, culture and education. Horses & Dreams has for many years been a lively and colourful social meeting place, known well beyond the German borders. Participants from up to 30 countries highlight the sporting significance of the first major international tournament of the outdoor season.

DKB, the title sponsor, is also delighted about the latest addition. Stefan Unterlandstättner, member of the board at the Deutschen Kreditbank AG (DKB) says: “The international equestrian festival Horses & Dreams enjoys an exceptional reputation and, with its level of quality and internationality, fits in perfectly with the DKB Riders' Tour. The series, which remains ever-popular with the spectators, has developed into a sporting brand. It is this significance that explains our involvement.” The organisers of the DKB Riders' Tour are equally thrilled to have been able to incorporate one of the most stunning tournaments in Germany into the tour.

Ever since Horses & Dreams has been a CSI/CDI, the question of whether it could be integrated into the series has been discussed a great deal in public. As the upbeat to the DKB Riders' Tour the international riders and horses will now gallop across the generous show-ground of the Kasselmann Stables. From there they will continue to Hamburg for the German Show-Jumping and Dressage Derby and to the International Whitsun Tournament in Wiesbaden. The Tournament of Champions in Münster is the fourth leg, followed by the E.ON Westfalen Weser Challenge in Paderborn, before moving to the GERMAN CLASSICS in Hannover and the Munich Indoors (during the indoor season) for the “home straight” of the DKB Riders' Tour.
